Newest Treasures ~ Pierre Louis "Henri" Grevedon Lithographs

I usually shop thrift stores for the treasures I find however, these I found on ebay. These vintage Lithograph prints caught my eye and were being sold very inexpensively - with shipping I only paid $12 total to receive 4 of them (3 are pictured here)! It turns out they are Pierre-Louis "Henri" Grevedon Lithographs (French Painter 1776-1860) handcolored and published in 1940 by the Artists Picture Publishing Co. in New York (as is stated on each of them). I am so pleased with these.

From looking around online I'm guessing these could sell for $25-$50 a piece to collectors (?).

Pretty Painted Egg

My youngest Daughter seems to have a nack for knowing what treasures might appeal to me! She showed me this lovely little hand painted egg at the Goodwill recently. I smiled as I had already once picked it up. I had never seen a painted egg in a case like this. It is so unique and beautiful. I payed only a dollar - maybe $1.50 for it. I still am always amazed at the treasures tossed aside at the Goodwill. I have since seen many of these for sale on Ebay for around $15.00 with some asking $42! Thanks to my little treasure hunter for drawing my eye to it a second time.

A Real Find! Sorrento "Romance" music box!

When one of my daughters pointed out this lovely jewelry box at the Goodwill this weekend it did indeed catch my eye. I loved the colors and the design. It was marked $3.00 and it was 1/2 price day! I really didn't intend to use it as a jewelry box but thought it would look pretty sitting out somewhere in my home. I tried to wind it to play the music and it seemed to not work at the store. All the same, I decided I wanted to buy it. When I got home I decided it did indeed look really nice on my dresser in the bedroom and I might just actually use it for the little amount of jewelry I wear. Much to my surprise as I opened it to put jewelry in it began to beautifully play "Edelweis"! It has worked every time without fail. I apparently didn't open the lid when trying it at the store (duh!). After looking at the markings on the bottom & researching this little beauty I came to find it is much more valuable then the $1.50 I payed! It seems from what I've seen it possibly is valued more like $150.00! It appears to be a Sorrento Music box. It has the "Made in Italy" label on it and the part you wind says "Romance" (aka "Swiss Reuge") on it! I am very pleased!

Another old Chair I love

I love old chairs. I bought this chair after Christmas at the goodwill. It is sitting in my kitchen. My husband saw it and said "I hope you didn't pay more than $2 for that thing." Funny how people see things so differently. I would have been happy to pay quite a bit more than the $4.00 I did pay! It just shouts history, simplicity, and character at me. I think it shouts old, beat up chair at him! I enjoyed putting some of my other finds on it. The cross-stitch piece I picked up at a garage sale this summer. I got a few antique magazines from the 70's and early 80's at the goodwill ($1.00 each) and stacked some of them on it. I love how the bird plate I found @ St. Vincent last week ties in so nicely with the picture on the front of the magazine!

Newest Treasures

I was thrilled to do some treasure hunting with Christmas money lovingly given me by my parents. These are some of my favorite finds:
